On January 6, 2021, Shane joined others at the U.S. Capitol, driven by concerns over the 2020 election. His actions that day led to his arrest on March 5, 2021, and a seven-year prison sentence. While he acknowledges his mistakes and has sought forgiveness through his faith, he believes the harsh treatment of January 6th defendants exposed deep flaws in our justice system.
Those years in prison, particularly at the D.C. jail and several Federal Prisons, tested him and strengthened his resolve to fight for truth and justice.
Now, as the founder of Stand in the Gap Foundation and The Real J6 he's dedicated to supporting January 6th defendants and their families while advocating for broader justice reform. His foundation provides tangible aid while pushing for a more fae & compassionate system.
He's also working on initiatives to shed light on the human toll of that day and challenge false narratives. His Christian faith fuels this mission, turning his past into a purpose to stand for those facing injustice, ensuring their sacrifices aren’t forgotten, and rebuilding communities through faith and freedom. He does this because he believes in redemption, truth, and a justice system that upholds its promise to all Americans.
